Sam Seidel: music guy of many different flavours. Born and raised in Leatherhead, Surrey, UK, just a stone’s throw from London. Sam is a 90’s baby and started classical piano at the age of 6 but didn’t get truly stuck into music until he picked up the guitar at 12. Hence begun an incredible romance. At 14, Sam joined a punk band, Questions about Dan, and he knew music was a lifelong mistress.
Whilst at school Sam was really into Science and Tech, and these days Sam prides himself himself on being a handy kinda guy. Finishing high school Sam decided to pursue his main passion: music. He went on to study at The Academy of Contemporary Music in his homeland of Surrey, focusing on guitar. After this Sam decided he wanted to be savvy on all facets of the music realm and moved on to study Sound and Live Production. Getting pilfered directly after graduating he headed out on the road touring the UK and mainland Europe as a Backline Tech with the likes of Funeral Party and Seu Jorge et Almaz.
Sam went on to spend most of his 20’s touring all over the world with a number of big acts, such as Jamiroquai, Aloe Blacc and Bombay Bicycle Club working as a Stage Manager, guitar technician and Backline Tech. When not on the road Sam kept himself busy by working on music, and playing in a number of diverse bands throughout Surrey and Bristol. A career highlight was performing at Glastonbury in 2016 with his swing band Lounge Cat Ideals, along with working with Jamiroquai at Coachella in 2018.
Not long after Coachella, Sam decided it was time to broaden his horizons and live in a very different part of the world. In 2018 Sam packed his bags, migrating to Australia for new landscapes and adventures.
Sam found himself in Melbourne, quickly forming a love affair with the music scene, and decided to concentrate on creating and playing again, forming The Wisecracks - a bluesy swingin' trio with old time buddy Romani Guanzon and local Harry Broome in Melbourne.
Sam has always had a strong love of rock music and experimental genres, working on bits and pieces over the years but never really put anything out. Until now! 2020 seemed the perfect time to take the plunge into workshopping and song writing new material closer to his heart.
With the wake of a very unusual year Sam has now found himself in the beautiful township of Cobargo in the Bega Valley and finds himself inspired by the incredible landscapes as well as the delightfully colourful people he is surrounded by. During the course of the year Sam has been focusing on more studio recording work. In the Music he is currently working upon Sam wants to be more vulnerable, honest and express real emotions, in the hope to connect with others who share these feelings.
